Brief job description and requirements
This position is a full-time in Paediatric Orthopaedics. The job is located at the University Hospital on the island of Mallorca. The department is composed of 8 consultants with defined areas of interest (spine, hip, feet, upper limb, knee and sports surgery, infection and tumours and neuromuscular). The service attends all kind of musculoskeletal paediatric pathology except for malignant tumors.
Required documentation
- Curriculum Vitae (CV): Provide a full CV, including a colour passport photograph. Your CV should reflect your previous experience in Paediatric Orthopaedics.
- Personal Statement: Submit a statement (maximum 250 words) explaining your reasons for applying to the FEPOS Fellowship.
- Two Letters of Support: Include two letters supporting your application. One letter must be from your local training program director, and the other must be from a recent clinical supervisor ( preferably, working in the field of paediatric orthopaedics).
- Optional: Letter of Returning Centre: If you have a job offer at a centre upon completion of the FEPOS program, include a letter from the future centre stating that you have a job offer. Initial selection will be based on the documentation submitted. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
Working requirements
Specific documentation required for this position:
- Language Requirements: To apply to this job, you need at least a level B2 in Spanish, although preferably a C1. Those lacking an official language certificate, may be requested to sit an exam about their level of language (to be determined by the registration body (Colegio de Medicos de Baleares)).
- Working Permit (open only to EU workers): Due to EU regulations the candidate member should be holding a EEC member citizenship, or a citizenship that entitles to work freely in the European Union.
- Registration body: In order to be allowed to practice in the country you need your medical degree to be recognised in Spain. Although, EEC members will get automatic recognition. Still they do have to apply for the recognition at the country and without recognition would not be able to work. Remember that this takes time, so apply in advance otherwise you won't have enough time to apply for the position. Once the recognition is granted if you get the position you will need to apply to the “Colegio de Médicos de Balerares” to obtain the licence to practise in our country.
- Other legal requirements: Successful candidates would be required to produce a certificate of being conviction free of any children related offence, or any major fault that may be considered dangerous to deal with children.
To be eligible for the fellowship, you must have completed a training program in Orthopaedic Surgery from your country of origin. In certain circumstances, a formal training in Paediatric Surgery may be accepted, provided you have completed an adequate training in Paediatric Orthopaedics and submit documented proof of it. Please ensure that your application package is complete and submitted by the specified deadline. Incomplete or late applications may not be considered.
