Journal of Children's Orthopaedics

The Journal of Children’s Orthopaedics is the official journal of the European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society (EPOS).

It provides a forum for the advancement of knowledge and education in paediatric orthopaedics and traumatology across geographical borders, advocating for increased worldwide involvement in preventing and treating musculoskeletal diseases in children and adolescents.

The journal publishes high quality, peer-reviewed articles that focus on clinical practice, diagnosis and treatment of disorders unique to paediatric orthopaedics, as well as on basic and applied research. It aims to help physicians stay abreast of the latest and ever-changing developments in the field of paediatric orthopaedics and traumatology.

Publication in a scientific journal such as the Journal of Children's Orthopaedics (JCO) plays a pivotal role in making important research visible globally.

EPOS Podcast: A look behind the scenes of the JCO

With over 300,000 downloads in 2025 alone, the JCO has become a hugely important educational tool for paediatric orthopaedic surgeons around the world.

EPOS Podcast host Darius Rad has invited the JCO's Chief Editors Shlomo Wientroub and Fritz Hefti, as well as the journal's Liaison Councillor Marta Salom, to give you a rare look behind the scenes of the JCO, from how it got started, all the way to the impact it has today. They discuss, among other things, the use of AI in publishing, APC waivers and support for developing countries.
