The observership is hosted at the Pediatric Upper Limb and Congenital Anomalies department at Hospital Infantil Universitario Niño Jesús in Madrid, Spain.
As a National Referral Center, this observership offers a comprehensive and high-volume clinical environment, and provides fellows with dedicated and rigorous training experience in the multidisciplinary management of paediatric upper limb conditions.
The programme offers in-depth exposure to:
- Congenital hand and upper limb differences
- Microvascular surgery and reconstructive techniques
- Post-traumatic reconstruction and sequelae management
- Neuromuscular and spastic upper limb management
Fellows will actively engage in the following core activities:
- Didactic Curriculum: Weekly educational lectures and grand rounds focused on paediatric upper extremity anomalies.
- Clinical Case Conferences: Formal presentations and multidisciplinary discussions of complex cases.
- Outpatient Clinics: Hands-on experience in evaluation, diagnosis and treatment or paediatric patients
- Surgical Training: Advanced intra-operative experience in reconstructive and congenital hand surgery.
- Academic Development: Participation in specialised courses, national conferences, and departmental training workshops
